A bit about Barney
Bernard Patrick "Barney" Lindsay was born at St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon on March 12, 1971, but made it home just in time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Heppner, the annual event where he could be seen with his characteristic grin every year since.

It has been an honor to be one of the 2024 Barney Lindsay Scholarship Recipients. My first term at Eastern Oregon University has been a whirlwind of new experiences. The transition from high school to college has brought many changes including living away from home, managing a busy schedule, and building new relationships with friends from diverse backgrounds. While at Eastern, I have taken advantage of attending extracurricular sporting events and student activities. I’m enjoying my classes and I’m very excited for the years ahead. I want to thank Kimberly Lindsay and the Lindsay family for their support.

This scholarship was especially important to me as I have known Uncle Barney my whole life. I’ve used it to help offset the financial burden of college tuition and will soon be applying for nursing school. This scholarship is a great opportunity for me and other young adults who need a little extra help from Uncle Barney to achieve our dreams. Thank you again!
